The ‘other half’ referred to in the book’s title is Augusta’s twin, Julia. You know that something bad happened to Julia as it’s hinted early on. The book starts out as a coming of age story with some wry humour but towards the end it’s a wave of grief which the characters are trying to survive. I loved The other half of Augusta Hope. I have read it cover to cover today, not wanting to leave it unfinished. I savoured the language and the weaving of love stories and of huge loss and pain and heartache and impossibility. Joanna Glen is a true storyteller and her characters feel alive and plausible. The Other Half of Augusta Hope; The Other Half of Augusta Hope. by. Joanna Glen.
